The Austin ultimate community ignited the Torch in 2018 to promote and showcase women, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming athletes’ elite skills to audiences that would not otherwise get the opportunity to watch them in action. The Torch is a semiprofessional team with players hailing from all over the “Lone Star State” and its neighbors, with fans across the world.

From its inception, the community has taken a grass-roots approach to the Torch’s ownership, funding, and organization. The Torch remain a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, community-funded organization. The support from ultimate players and player organizations all over Texas keeps our fire burning, year after year.

The Torch cover all player costs: game salary, equipment, field space, insurance, travel, and more. And its leadership team are all volunteers. This team exists because of the community buy-in—both emotional and social as much as financial.

In 2024, we are strategizing to take the community’s dollar further by implementing multilevel corporate sponsorship deals, chasing unique fundraisers, and pursuing grant funding. Our priority initiatives include league buy-in, stream quality improvement, and venue rental.

Sponsorship
Do you own a business or work for a company that is interested in being an official sponsor of the Austin Torch? We are especially interested in sponsors who can donate food or drink products that can be sold at our games. Please email atxtorch@gmail.com for more information.

With your help, we can show the world that women, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming athletes deserve a place in the professional sphere. Equal pay for equal play, y’all! Let’s do this!
